Excess of Ditches

Excess of Dishes

A dark spot here.
Another blemish there.
A thin glazed faded stroke under here.
A sharp edge over there
A few pits in the bottom
Discoloration in the glazed leaves
Too much variation on one piece

A stack of dishes
A stack of ditches

Seconds. To the trash

Excess of Ditches

Hand-crafted products are inherently variable with respect to color, stroke, density of glaze, thickness of walls, sharpness of edges, pits, spots, and other marks that are all a process of the lovingly hand-applied glazes and slip-cast process that we use here in our Salem, Oregon studio to create works of art for you and your friends.

All of those marks clearly show that each piece is hand-made work of art, and that no machine stamped, or pressed, or vacuumed, or in any other way formed our designs.....just piece by piece...one at a time....each one hand-formed with care!

We hope you have a renewed sense of awe for Creation when you set a tablescape of wonder by Beyond Jordan. Imagine how perfect is creation and by comparison how incredibly imperfect are our creations!

Imperfect yes: but reflecting high quality workmanship; great attention to detail; superb craftmanship in sculpting and processing each piece; and the result is an awesome display of creation that will be the decorative and functional centerpiece of your next social event.

And while somewhat imperfect, yet.....we're so very proud of what we're producing for you these days in our studio and know that they will be the centerpiece and serveware that grace your table for generations to come during those celebrations during life's journey.

Bon Apetite!
